Tickets Now Available for 2nd Annual Farm Fresh Appalachia Farm Tour

Abingdon, VA – Appalachian Sustainable Development’s Farm Fresh Appalachia Farm Tour will hold the 2nd annual farm tour on Saturday, October 5, 2019 from 9:00am to 6:00pm (exact times vary per farm), rain or shine. Tickets are $20 per vehicle and can be purchased: www.arcd.org/farmtours.

Thirteen unique farm operations are participating in Russell, Scott, Tazewell, Washington and Wise Counties in Virginia, featuring an alpaca farm, vineyards, cidery, a creamery, cattle and sheep operations, a food hub, apple orchard and more. A complete list of farms and tour day activities can be found here: https://arcd.org/farmfresh/join-a-farm-tour/va/.

Farm tourists will have the opportunity to visit a wide variety of farm operations in our region and understand their workings, learn about where their food comes from and meet farmers and food producers. These small businesses and farms will provide guided or self-guided tours, demonstrations, hands-on experiences, animal encounters and some will have goods for sale. Farm Tourists are encouraged to plan their own schedule for the day, selecting the farms they wish to visit and the order in which they visit. All farm experiences are family friendly and appropriate for all ages. Tourists should wear sturdy shoes and dress for changes in weather.

By having the Farm Fresh Appalachia Tours in southwest Virginia in fall this year, farm tourists will be able to experience a variety of farms and farm goods while taking in the mountains and farm lands vistas in their gorgeous fall color palettes.

Farm Fresh Appalachia and the regional Farm Fresh Appalachia Farm Tour is a partnership between Appalachian RC&D Council, Appalachian Sustainable Development, Boone Street Market and the Northeast Tennessee Tourism Association, funded by the USDA.
